Revelation 1:3

How we look at Revelation may be how we look at the Bible as a whole. Verse three speaks of a blessing. Let's read verse three.

Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of the prophecy, and keep the things that are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Blessed is he that readeth:

  1. God gives a blessing to the one who reads this prophecy. There are other verses that give a blessing to those who read and do the instruction from the word of God.
  2. Some people don’t feel that Revelation is that important, it is the Revelation of Jesus Christ, it is the future that is coming.

And they that hear the words of the prophecy,

  1. Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Romans says that faith comes from hearing the word of God.
  2. Not only does a person get a blessing by reading this prophecy, but the person that also hears this prophecy will receive a blessing.
  3. A lot of people could not read in those days, so they were blessed to hear these words. There may be double blessings for those that read the prophecy and those that also hear these words of God.

And keep the things that are written therein:

  1. People that keep the words of God to their hearts are blessed in all they do and all they have. Happiness is a blessing from God.
  2. The word of God is our moral directive way to live. We will be blessed as we live for God.

For the time is at hand.

  1. The end times are closer than we can even imagine. We can see the world moving in to place this futurist view in this prophecy.
  2. When this futurist view starts to happen, it will happen fast.
  3. We need to be always ready for the coming of the Lord.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ. It is the total view of things to come. May God bless you.
