Psalms of Unity

Unity is an idea that you see in the retired military, you can get two retired militaries together and they will just start talking about their time in the service. Unity is also something you see in people that believe in God and those that do not believe in God. Let’s read Psalms 133 a Psalms of Unity.

Psalms 133:1 “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!”

Verse 1:

1. You find the word Unity. This unity definition:

a. Harmony with one another.

b. To have one accord with each other,

c. Union with each other, and just a plain agreement with each other.

2. As Christians we should have the same unity as soldiers have, to perform together against the Evil in this world.

3. Do not underestimate the level of evil of this world that is in unison against all Christians.

Psalms 133:2 “ It is like the precious oil upon the head, That ran down upon the beard, Even Aaron's beard; That came down upon the skirt of his garments;”

Verse 2:

1. Leviticus 8:12 “And he poured of the ointment oil upon Aaron's head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.”

2. A Holy ointment put on to show God’s favor.

3. This Holy anointment is also seen in healing and sanctification.

4. Mary put ointment on Jesus. John 12:3 “Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.”

5. Ointment is a metaphor for God’s blessing of the unity of members.

Psalms 133:3 “ Like the dew of Hermon, That cometh down upon the mountains of Zion: For there Jehovah commanded the blessing, Even life for evermore.”

Verse 3:

1. The dew of Hermon is a metaphor for the blessing of God.

2. The unity with the blessing of God is a majority.

3. The phrase, “for evermore.” Is only in two places in the Old Testament: Daniel 12:13 “But go thou thy way till the end be; for thou shalt rest, and shalt stand in thy lot, at the end of the days.”

Unity is so important for us as Christians. We read in the Book of Revelation about the battle of the Believers and the Non-Believers. We need unity, and to get there we need to have Salvation from Jesus. We stand stronger together.

God Bless
